The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) reports 30% of recent graduates are from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group. However, the profession loses this talent through career “pinch points,” resulting in less than 13% Architect members of the AIA identifying as part of an underrepresented group. NOMA’s goal is to broaden the pipeline to increase minority retention in schools and in turn in the profession.
Each year, NOMA National hosts the annual NOMA Conference which brings thousands of members together to learn, network, and grow. Students are invited and encouraged to attend the conference and participate in a Barbara G. Laurie Student Design Competition that can help their chapter for future growth; however, the expenses are usually too great.
This year, we are hosting our Inaugural Pickle Games to raise money for members of all four of our local universities to attend the NOMA Conference and be able to participate in the Barbara G. Laurie Student Design Competition. 100% of all proceeds will be going to support students.
