MISSION

NOMA’s mission, rooted in a rich legacy of activism, is to empower our local chapters and membership to foster justice and equity in communities of color through outreach, community advocacy, professional development and design justice.

2024 EXECUTIVE BOARD

PRESIDENT

STACEY BOYNTON, ASSOC. AIA

Stacey Boynton has served as an Architectural Designer in south Florida for over 6 years. She is a graduate from The University of South Florida with a Masters in Architecture and Community Design.  She is also the Chair of Diversity and Inclusion for the AIA Fort Lauderdale and B.A.M (Black Architects in the Making) in Broward County. For the past 2 years, she has served as a board member representing the Northwest CRA Advisory Committee for the City of Pompano Beach. Stacey is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. 

VICE PRESIDENT

TIFFANY MONTAÑEZ

Tiffany Montañez is an Associate and Senior Project Manager at SB Architects in Miami, FL. She is a born and raised Nuyorican who received her Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University. Tiffany served as a Co-Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee at AIA Miami for 2022-2023, and was selected as AIA Miami’s Associate of the Year in 2022. Tiffany was previously on SoFlo’s executive board as Secretary. She is a mentor and active community member, Co-Chairing SoFlo’s Project Pipeline and is a Mentor of the ACE Mentor Program.

JaLin Harrington

JALIN HARRINGTON

JaLin Harrington is an associate architect at MCHarry associates. He is a graduate of Florida A&M  University. JaLin is also a member of the Beta Nu chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., in which he served as president and the Seshait Chapter of Alpha Rho Chi Professional Fraternity Inc., in which he has served as Parliamentarian. He is a member of Black Architects in the Making (B.A.M.!)

EMELY ACOBO

Emely is an Associate Designer at MC Harrry & Associates. She recently graduated with her Masters in Architecture from Florida International University, where she was also president of FIU’s NOMAS chapter. In 2022, she was selected as SoFlo NOMA’s Student of the Year.

STUDENT LIAISON

BRANDON NEWTON

Brandon is a University of South Florida graduate student with a Masters degree in Architecture who has a passion to equip destitute communities with sustainable tools to empower themselves. He is also a graduate Research Assistant at the Florida Center for Community Design and Research. Brandon has established two collegiate architectural organizations that raise awareness about social issues that plague disenfranchised populaces and addresses the lack of representation of minorities within architecture.

KANISHA FOWELL

Kanisha Fowell is a designer at Bermello Ajamil & Partners in Fort Lauderdale. With over two years of experience working on commercial, municipal & maritime architectural projects, she is working towards becoming a licensed architect in the state of Florida.
